Mr. Harvey George Monty, age 64 years, resident of Hwy 130, Thunder Bay lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at home with his family by his side.
Harvey was born on February 12, 1946 in Fort William and was raised in the area. He attended S.S. #3 Paipoonge School, Crawford School and Selkirk High School. Harvey belonged to the boxing team and loved golfing, snowmobiling, camping and fishing. Over the years he worked for Hewitson Construction, Canada Car, local elevators and the City of Thunder Bay Works Department. In 1980 Harvey moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta where he went to work as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Suncor until his retirement and return to Thunder Bay in 2006.
A Celebration of Harvey's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the Murillo Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church (Box 153, Murillo, Ontario P0T 2G0), the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. For those attending the services, a donation of a non perishable food item for the Rural Food Bank would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
